Featherstone Winery Canadian Oak Chardonnay
Featherstone winery has been insecticide-free since 1999 and are practitioners of eco-friendly farming.
Featherstone was one of the first wineries to use Canadian oak barrels, producing an exceptional barrel-fermented Canadian Oak Chardonnay in 2002. Until recently, oak from Canada had not been considered for winemaking. The integration of their wine with oak grown in the same climate and region is an interesting concept.

This medium-bodied Chardonnay is made exclusively from Niagara grapes and was fermented by ‘wild’ yeasts indigenous to the vineyard, and matured in barrels made from nearby oak trees.
It has flavours of citrus, green apple, floral notes as well as some spices, and a vanilla finish. Pairs perfectly with a roasted chicken but it is delicious on its own.
Although the 2018 vintage is no longer available, the 2019 vintage was just recently released at the LCBO vintages section.
